Hopefully my bout with health problems is pretty much behind me now, so I can get back to my blog. I wanted to thank my “guest poster” for filling in for me. I also have some new items that I will be posting.
First I wanted to talk about the Christmas cards that my daughter posted. As she mentioned she has a “thing” for sheep, goats and alpacas. Two of my favorite stamp/die companies fit the bill. Elizabeth Craft Designs and Lawn Fawn have wonderful animals dies and stamps. The 2 sets of cards that my daughter wrote about are both done from Elizabeth Craft Designs dies designed by Karen Burniston. Snowball the Sheep and Dutch the Fox play a major role in both of these cards. The folding portions of the cards are also made with Elizabeth Craft Designs.
In the sleigh card I used the Sleigh Gift Card Pop It Up as it was meant to be used. When you open the card the sleigh stands out from the background and I filled it with presents. There are 2 tabs behind the sleigh that will hold a gift card. My variation was use Snowball and Dutch, all decked out in Santa hats, to “pull the sleigh”. They also pop out from the background. Karen Burniston makes her dies so detailed, yet so easy to assemble, that they are fun to make and use.
The second set of cards was a slight variation on an adaptation of the Twist Circle Pop Up, also from Elizabeth Craft Designs and designed by Karen Burniston. When you open the card the circle twists up and away from the inside of the card. After die cutting a hole in the front I put “snow” acetate to make it look as though Snowball and Dutch are peeking through the window. I wanted to make this into a gift card holder, so using dies from another favorite company I added snow hills and a few trees. I left an opening at the top of the uppermost hill so that I could slip in a gift card. The trees and hills are from Lawn Fawn. You will see more of their products in later posts.
I am very happy to be back and can’t wait to share more of my creations with you!
