Lawn Fawn Challenge #6 – Cheerful Get Well!

I’m back again!  This time it’s for the next Lawn Fawn Challenge.  The theme this time is “Cheerful Get Well”.  In my opinion, anytime you use Lawn Fawn products, your creation is always cheerful.  They are all so cute how could it not be!  But back to the theme.  For me, this was kind of a project of just pulling out anything that might work and see what happens.  Once I had a general idea what I wanted to do, I discovered that I wanted some kind of tote but wanted it to be flat.  Then it just bloomed from there.  Here is the final card:

Taking my cue from the red cross I planned for the chickie’s hat, I picked out a muted red patterned Lawn Fawn paper covered with stars.  I used the same color of cardstock for my back layer and then a layer of Bazzill white textured cardstock which reminded me of a nurses uniform.  Now the fun begins.

I cut my tote from the Lawn Fawn Tote Bag but instead of making it 3D I cut just the front and a bit of the bottom from the die.  I then scored 1/4″ down the right and left sides and trimmed the bottom to 1/4″ from the score line.  I folded all three sides in, put 1/8″ strong double sided tape on each flap and attached it to the middle of the card with the bottom almost to the lower edge of the white cardstock.  I left the handle loose for now.

Next using the Lawn Fawn stamps and dies from Get Well Soon I stamped the pill bottle and chickie nurse on white super smooth cardstock.  I also added the red cross to the chickie’s hat using red ink.  I stamped the bandage on tan cardstock.  I colored them all with Copic markers and then cut them all out with the coordinating dies.  I also dotted the chickie’s eyes with a Sakura black glaze pen.  I ran a strip of bright, cheerful yellow cardstock through my Xyron and then I cut out the sentiment using Lawn Fawn’s Get Well Soon Border die.

The final step was to place everything on the card.  I started by adding the yellow border towards the bottom of the card*, clipping off each end to match the outer layer.  I then added the chickie and the medicine bottle to the bag.  I was wondering what to do with the bandage when inspiration struck!  What do bandages do?  They fix boo-boos!  So I pulled a corner of the white cardstock away, tore it a bit and then used the bandage with foam tape to “fix” it.  Cute!  Lastly I tucked two real bandages into the tote and tied a bit of red and white twine around the handle to finish it off.  To keep everything in place I put a tiny piece of foam tape under the top of the handle and attached it to the card.

Hope you enjoy my version of the Lawn Fawn challenge.  Take care and stay well!!

* A hint for putting the borders on straight.  I first put an adhesive on the back of the cardstock that I am going to die cut.  I usually use my Xyron as the backing is thin.  Run the die through your machine both forwards and back to make sure the paper will stick in the die.  Using a pick, gently pull off the backing sheet making sure to keep the cardstock in the die.  Then take the die and lay it over your project where you want it.  Once you have it in place, poke through the holes in the die to push the die cut onto your project.  Voila!  A perfectly placed die cut!  I then use my brayer or my bone folder to make sure it is stuck tight.
